Welcome to the Twitography Project

The aim of Twitography is simple and elegant: I'd like to photograph as many people who use Twitter as possible. Along the way I'd really like to see if we can also raise some money for a very worthy cause. Please use the links above to navigate the site and to find out more. As the project progresses, you'll be able to view the results in the blog posts below.

Many thanks for your interest and support!

We’re back! And we’re going on tour…

I know, I know, it’s been a long time… A variety of things have limited my participation for a good few weeks.

However, I am back, and as part of an annual 4TogsBlog holiday, I’m even in a position to take Twitography on Tour! We’re travelling down to Newquay for some R&R, and I’d love to hear from any people in the area (or en route) who’d be interested in an impromptu Twitography session.

Please get in touch if you can make it next week - I’d love to hear from you!

Just one more…

Seems I forgot one from @onion2k & @fra66le’s shoot… Love this shot:

Some Outtakes…

So, what do people get up to behind the camera, whilst I’m working on the portraits?

Well, mainly they play with foam swords and attack each other…

After I’d finished taking the photo’s of @onion2k and @fra66le, I turned my attention to @PJ. He’s been using Twitter for so long, he managed to get hold of just a two-letter username! He’s also a bit of a photographer himself (so no pressure there then!) and you can see his work HERE.

I’ve finally managed to find the time to organise the photographs from the sessions I organised on Wednesday night in Newcastle, just outside the Baltic. Despite a poor weather forecast, we were lucky enough to have bright sunshine with just a touch of wind, so I decided to resurrect the blue sofa again!

First up were the lovely @onion2k and @fra66le:

A bit of a testament to the power of Twitter, this one… As I was checking my tweets this afternoon, I noticed that another photographer who I know, @discreetphoton, had tweeted that he was in Gateshead… 5 minutes later I’d arranged this session… 90 minutes after that I was dragging him through Newcastle in search of somewhere dry!

I dragged the fairy lights out again, mainly because I’m determined to get as much use out of them as I can! I also decided to gel my flash green for this one, going for a bit of an ethereal green glow… Big thanks to @discreetphoton for breaking his journey back up to Scotland. He’s an all-round nice guy - Please check out his blog HERE.

By way of a fortuitous coincidence, participants #03 and #04 happened to be passing through Newcastle on their way to Scotland. I arranged to meet them in the centre of town, showed them something of the local sites, and then ushered them back to Times Square for another session in the dark!

As you can see, they both started off nice and relaxed… The lovely thing about photographing other photographers is that they always know how to pose!

Before long, the lights from my flash (and the string of fairy lights that I’d dug out!) started to attract some of the other locals. I gave one of them my card, so I’m hoping that one of the angels will get back in touch to arrange their own session!

@Iainj was a little bit scared after that, I think! He tried to run, but didn’t manage to make it very far:

The project is gathering pace… If you’re interested in joining in, then please get in touch!

So, the Twitography project continued this evening with my second subject, @carole29. Carole was good enough to meet me right in the middle of town, in the middle of Times Square, as everyone else wondered what two people were doing with a whole bunch of camera gear and an inflatable blue sofa! A great night, with some very positive results:
